Back To Events – Zero Drugs Policy
Policy Statement
Back To Events is committed to providing a safe, enjoyable, and responsible environment for all attendees, staff, artists, and contractors. The use, possession, or supply of illegal drugs is strictly prohibited at all Back To Events events. This policy aligns with guidance from the Purple Guide and Safety Advisory Group (SAG) North Devon.
Scope
This policy applies to:
- All event attendees, including ticket holders, guests, and performers
- All staff, volunteers, and contractors working on Back To Events events
- All areas under the control of Back To Events, including venues, outdoor spaces, and temporary structures
Prohibited Activities
The following are strictly prohibited on Back To Events premises:
- Possession, consumption, or distribution of illegal drugs
- Use of legal substances in a manner that mimics illegal drug use or endangers others
- Facilitating, promoting, or encouraging drug use
Enforcement
- Event security and staff are trained to identify and manage drug-related risks in line with SAG and Purple Guide recommendations.
- Individuals found in possession of or under the influence of illegal substances will be asked to leave the event immediately and may be reported to the appropriate authorities.
- Any suspicious activity relating to drugs will be monitored and recorded.
Harm Reduction and Support
- Back To Events recognises that individuals may require support regarding substance use. Trained first aid and welfare staff will provide confidential advice and assistance where required.
- Information about local support services for substance misuse will be made available at events.
Communication
- This policy will be clearly communicated through:
- Event websites and ticketing platforms
- On-site signage and announcements
- Staff and volunteer training briefings
Review and Compliance
- This policy is reviewed annually or in response to legislative or regulatory changes.
- Back To Events commits to full compliance with all relevant laws and guidance from SAG, the Purple Guide, and local authorities.
